Located in the Sydney CBD half way between Hyde Park and Circular Quay, Sofitel Sydney Wentworth boasts 436 rooms, conferencing facilities, a health club, day spa, restaurant and the stylish Sofitel Lounge.
The interior design of the hotel is classic 5 star luxury, everything is as you would expect in this category. The Garden Court Restaurant is a standout, with its quirky decor. Love the yellow and black wallpaper. We didn’t eat there, but would love to know what the food is like.
RoomCritic Tip: Ask for a room on the East side of the hotel overlooking the garden and city, the views are much nicer. Also request a room with a flat screen TV, some rooms are yet to be upgraded.
Room 1514 Prestige Suite with Club Sofitel access
This room is on the West side of the hotel. It’s a large suite with plenty of lounge area and a desk at the end. The room is nicely designed with luxury finishes and the layout works very well. At the time of viewing this room in November 2011, it still had an older style TV, however we were told that the upgrade for the whole hotel would be complete early in 2012.
Access to the Club Sofitel Lounge is included with all the Prestige Suite rooms.
The bathroom is a good size with a separate bath and large shower.
This room was a good functional size, nicely designed with luxury finishes. There is enough space for 2 to move about without bumping into each other. A small sofa/chair under the window and a writing desk and chair always come in handy. The TV in this room had already been upgraded.
The view from this room is great, you get the garden below and the city buildings above.
The bathroom is small but very well designed to maximise the available space.
