Hotel Hotspot | Palm Springs

Hotel hotspot | Palm Springs

At RoomCritic, we really don’t need much of a reason to check out hot new hotels or an amazing destination from our bucket list.

Palm Springs has a number of sexy design hotels, and repeatedly comes up as a must-see destination.
Once we saw this year’s upcoming Coachella line up, we realised it was a perfect time to check out the options for Palm Springs hotels.

Although there are on-site camping facilities and hotels adjacent to the festival site, 25 miles seems close enough to stay at some incredible properties.

Ace Hotel and Swim Club Palm Springs

Ace Hotel & Swim Club is a 180 room hotel, spa & resort located in Palm Springs. It’s a renovated mid-century modern motel, within walking distance of downtown.

There are outdoor spa services, as well as room service, free wi-fi and a gym.  The design is organic and bohemian. Some rooms have a garden patio and some have a fireplace. The design is organic and bohemian. Some rooms have a garden patio and some have a fireplace. Some have record players and old vinyl you can play in your room and take home with you for a small price. There are also communal fireplaces located throughout the hotel. There’s good-smelling shampoo from Rudy’s Barbershop, and minibars with really addictive cheese popcorn.

Just south of downtown and close to the mountains, the location allows easy access to everything.

The Saguaro

The Saguaro opened in February 2012, bringing with it elevated design, delicious food and simple comfort. Architects Peter Stamberg and Paul Aferiat were brought in to infuse local color into the property. The team, known for their bold use of color, advocated recreating The Saguaro around a palette of 12 vibrant tones found in native desert wildflowers.

Hotel Lautner

Hotel Lautner invites guests to indulge their mid-century fantasies by renting their own private Lautner flat while enjoying the amenities of a boutique hotel.

Los Angeles based interior designer Tracy Beckman and furniture designer Ryan Trowbridge purchased the famed modernist architect John Lautner’s mid-century gem (built in 1947) and spent 3 ½ years on its meticulous renovation. The chic reworking of this architectural landmark is now Hotel Lautner. Located at the northern end of the Coachella Valley, Hotel Lautner appeals to the essence of the metropolitan sensibility, relocated to a spectacular desert setting.
