Located in the busy Southbank precinct, the hotel is a short walk over the river from the city and is connected to the Crown Entertainment Complex with the shopping mall, casino and other facilities across the street.
As you walk into the huge open lobby space you’ll see the wonderful artworks on display. The huge wall mural called ‘Good time garden party’ by artist Noel Skrzypczak at the far end of the lobby is our favourite.
The Crown Complex has everything you need, from luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Bvlgari and Prada to general fashion and accessories brands. If we’d more time we would have loved to have tried the Isika Day Spa. Maybe next time.
The Crown Metropol Melbourne is a big hotel with 658 rooms. There are 6 room types: Luxe Twin/King, City Luxe, Bay Luxe King, R59 Component Room, Loft Suites and a New York style apartment. We were given one of the Loft Suites, and absolutely loved it. You will be able to read our review of the room soon, take a look at the end of this review for the link when it’s available.
The Pool is big and has stunning panoramic infinity views of Melbourne and the Southbank area. Of course such a great pool is busy, if you’re lucky you can score yourself one of the comfy loungers or even a day bed.
Our room included the Sky Lounge Package, which gave us a number of great complimentary services in the stunning 28 lounge. We enjoyed a few drinks and nibbles before we jumping in the our taxi to meet friends for dinner. The next morning our buffet style breakfast for two was also included.
Of the three hotels in the Crown Complex the Crown Metropol is considered their family hotel. Sure, the hotel is super family friendly, we travelled with our 16 month old baby and certainly felt right at home, however the swanky decor and interior design make this much more than a family hotel. The Crown Metropol Melbourne is very well suited to anyone looking for a stylish, chic hotel in the new heart of Melbourne.
Book your stay at Crown Metropol Melbourne on their website.
UPDATE Ensure you specify a non-smoking room if that is what you prefer, this is one of the few hotels with smoking rooms still and on a subsequent visit we were put in one.
