6 Hotel Mini Bars to tempt your late night cravings
One of the first things we RoomCritics check out when we get to a new hotel is the contents and quality of the minibar.
The perfect minibar needs to be the perfect combination of staples (champagne, beer, chips and coke) and also have some interesting, local or artisanal items that are unique to that hotel, preferably chocolate and liquor.
Here are some we want to demolish…
QT Hotel Sydney
The perfect welcoming espresso martini tray: hello Patron Cafe and Belvedere!
W Hotel Barcelona
Aside from the awesome cocktail tray pictured below, the mini-bar — W “Munchie Box” — includes lollipops, a Wallpaper City Guide Barcelona and Havaianas thongs.
The Wythe Hotel, Brooklyn, NYC
The Wythe Hotel is a perfect example of a hotel capturing the local flavour in their mini bar. In this case, Williamsburg locals Marlow & Sons provides the mini-bar accoutrements, including a selection of small-batch ice cream and other seasonal and local items.
Soho Beach House, Miami
The gorgeous mini bars in the guest rooms at Soho Beach House in Miami Beach don’t resemble the standard hotel mini bar. Instead they are a gorgeous and well stocked bar that one would expect to find in a fabulous home.
Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht
Our friend and fellow travel blogger Jen Pollack Bianco of My Life’s a Trip sees a lot of hotel mini bars, so when she recommends the mini bar at Andaz Amsterdam, you know its something special. Best of all, its all complimentary except for the booze!
The Little Nell, Aspen Colorado
The mini bar at The Little Nell has just the thing to revive you—oxygen. A can of truO2 contains 95 percent pure oxygen-enriched air, and it can help you feel better at altitude. Although its about US$14 for a few hits of the energy-restoring oxygen, everything else except the alcohol in this hotel’s extensive mini-bar is complimentary and refreshed daily.
We want to include your mini bar photos in our next blog post! Don’t forget to tag your mini bar instagram shots with #minibar, and all your Instagram hotel photos with #roomcritic to add them to the RoomCritic hotel photo gallery and share them with thousands of fellow travellers. Each week we select a new photo to feature across our social network and website. Take a look at this weeks hotel photo of the week.
