There are plenty of nice resort Spas, and then there is the spectacular Remède Spa at St. Regis Punta Mita Resort Puerto Vallarta.
In luxury resorts these days, a decent spa is pretty much expected. In resorts that are known for their golf courses and as destination wedding venues, a spa is an essential for golf widows and bridal parties.
As we quickly realised on this stay, St. Regis Punta Mita does everything at the highest level, and there is an equally phenomenal spa to match their award winning Jack Nicklaus golf courses. In preparation for my wedding, I knew I would be spending some quality pamper time in the gorgeous Remède Spa. The 10,000 square-foot spa features all the elements one requires for ultimate indulgence, all surrounded by striking views of Punta Mita. The spa offers access to sauna, steam room, fitness center, salon, Jacuzzi, cold plunge pools and relaxation gardens as well as outdoor treatment options under shady canopies.
Our very first experience of the spa was when we were directed by the fabulous Marietas staff to leave our cocktails by the pool, and sample a complimentary 15 minute massage by the beach. This convinced my formerly massage-phobic almost husband that a visit to the spa would be a suitable activity for him after all…
The Remède Spa is a blissful experience from the moment you walk into the relaxed spacious reception, to when you float out after your incredible treatments.
After checking in for your reservation (preferred, although some of our bookings were on the day), the receptionist escorted me through to the change rooms, where I was assigned a locker and a lovely temperature appropriate lightweight cotton robe. The change rooms are spacious and quiet, and thoughtfully equipped with a full range of toiletries as well as hairdryers and straighteners.
The relaxation area is gorgeous and calm with fruit and cucumber water provided to sip by the plunge pool on a lounger in the sun, or on the sofas under cover with the latest fashion magazines to read. There are separate and identical locker rooms and relaxation areas for men and women.
I was escorted to my first treatment, a Spa mani and pedi, in a lovely outdoor pavilion in the middle of the spa. While sipping on juice and relaxing, my nails were polished to perfection and I could feel the stress leaving my body. I encountered just one other client, who was also very impressed with the service at the Spa.
My next experience was for my Wedding Day preparations in a lovely private treatment room. The gorgeous Claudia did a wonderful job of my hair, giving me exactly what I wanted, soothing my nerves at the same time, and humoured me with a calming margarita. I came with my hair freshly washed, but they are also able to wash your hair at the salon. I wore my hair loose with relaxed beachy waves, although Claudia is also very experienced with more formal bridal up dos. The lovely Marta, who had previously manicured my nails to perfection, made up my face for the wedding. Not only did she make me look the best I have ever looked, but managed my control freak tendencies by talking me through what she was doing, as she did it. My make up was fresh and beautiful and even more remarkably, looked just as good hours later after our photo shoot and happy wedding tears.
Later in the week, Brenton and I experienced our Remède Customised Massages. Although we took turns at the spa in order to look after our toddler, romantic couples massages are also available in the Couples rooms or Suite. The last of my long haul travel tension was soothed from my body by Claudia in an excellent massage, at the perfect firm pressure. As a connoisseur of massages, this surpassed my high expectations and left me totally relaxed. It was the ideal combination of relaxation and easing of knots and kinks. Brenton had his first massage, with gentle pressure, and was surprised by how much he enjoyed it. He found the Spa to be quiet and peaceful, and loved the calm atmosphere.
The Remède range of luxurious skin and hair products are used at the spa, and are also in the villa bathrooms at the St. Regis Punta Mita. The Spa also uses Bliss and Declor products in their treatments.
Services tried: Spa Manicure and Pedicure, Wedding Hair and Make up, and Remède Customised massages.
