Spa at Alila Villas Soori Bali | Hotel Spa Review

Bali, Indonesia is famous for it’s spas and spa treatments at affordable prices. On an island with a spa on every corner, you have to be pretty special to be considered one of the top 10 spas in Bali. The award winning Spa at Alila Villas Soori is that special.

Our visit to the Spa at Alila Villas Soori had been scheduled in advance and we were very much looking forward to the experience.

Before we left Australia, I spent many hours looking at the Spa on the Alila website and the range of treatments offered, so I was super excited to see and experience this Spa for myself. The experience lived up to my (very high) expectations!

Our Spa session had been scheduled for our second day at Alila Villas Soori, a couples Balinese massage. The staff kindly offered to take Saxon to feed the Koi fish in the ponds so we could attend the Spa together. As any parent can attest, child-free couples time together is pure luxury.

After Saxon was collected by one of the lovely staff for his activity, we wandered over to the Spa Reception from our villa, 15 minutes prior to our treatment time. We were greeted warmly by name, and taken in to the pool relaxation area.  Fresh iced lemongrass ginger tea and and iced towel were given to us to refresh before our treatment. Our therapists introduced themselves and offered us each a selection of three scented oils to decide which would be used for the treatment. After shutting my eyes and deeply inhaling each scent, the first oil, the Alila Spa signature blend of ylang ylang, lemongrass and lavender, was the one for me that day.

Once we had finished our welcome drink, we were shown to the couples treatment villa which was large and very well appointed.  It had its own shower, wardrobe and change area for each person, with a light weight robe and rattan slippers. We were instructed to remove our clothing and dress in the robes and slippers.

We selected the Balinese massage, though there are many styles of massage to choose from including Hot Stone, Reflexology and Pregnancy. The Balinese Massage is described “Feel tension dissolve with this ancient Balinese healing therapy that combines gentle stretching, long therapeutic strokes and skin rolling to relieve muscle pain. Palm and thumb pressure techniques are also applied to unravel the deepest stress an d improve blood flow.” I opted to have an additional Stimulating Scalp Massage for 30 minutes once my full body massage was complete. The massage was wonderful with firm pressure and very effective at relaxing the last of my tense muscles. I was instructed to leave the oil from my massage on my hair for as long as possible to treat it. I highly recommend adding in additional areas that need work.

The Spa Menu offers an extensive range of treatments and packages, many of which can be customised to meet your specific needs. These include an incredible range of facials using the Alila products or the Babor range, manicures and pedicures, a delicious sounding Avocado and Coconut Smoothie Crème bath for hair, waxing and a range of lovely children’s treatments. There is also the option of having your Spa treatment at night under the stars in the privacy of your own villa.

The Spa hosts daily Yoga sessions each morning on the lawn in front of the Reading Room, and additional Private Yoga Sessions can also be scheduled with them.

The Alila Journey to You experiences are a half or full day wellness program encompassing healthy and delicious meals, exercise and Spa treatments to maximise wellbeing and pampering.

Alila Villas Soori eco resort is the perfect environment for detoxing, if you can say no to their delicious cocktails. The Spa has a Metha Detox Program for 1, 3 or 5 days in order to rejuvenate and promote a more powerful immune system by stimulating the body’s natural detoxification mechanisms. If you are looking to Detox, it might as well be in perfectly designed resort with stunning natural beauty.

The Spa uses their own range of specially formulated luxurious Alila skin and hair products, and these are found throughout the Alila hotels and resorts. The products do not disappoint, and every type of product you could want is available. The shower gel, coffee scrub and lip balms (for him and her!) were favourites. The toiletries range is available to purchase in the Spa, gift shop and online at the online at Shop Alila.

The style of the Spa seamlessly blends the modern design of the hotel with traditional warm touches. These are not among the cheapest Spa Treatments available in Bali, but spectacular and luxurious setting and highly trained and skilled therapists absolutely warrant at least one visit to this stunning Spa. Even if you are not staying at Alila Villas Soori, it’s a 45 minute drive from Seminyak and worth the visit to experience why this Spa and Resort are considered one of the very best Bali has to offer.

Services tried: Couples Balinese Massage, Scalp Massage.
